You must know the following SI Prefixes, symbols and scientific notations by February 23, 2009.  You can memorize this information in a table or number line format.  See page 37 in the Timberlake Textbook.  A mini-quiz will be given on this information during that week.

Table Format:

Base Units:  g = gram, m = meter, L = liter

a.  When making definitions, keep all powers POSITIVE
b.  Place a 1 in front of the LARGER UNIT
c.  Place a 1 x 10+spaces in front of the SMALLER UNIT
d. Subtract exponents if on the same side of 100 = Base
e. Add exponents if on different sides of 100 = Base
