Using FTP to update your website

If you can't use FrontPage, you may use FTP as an alternate method to load files to homepage.smc.edu. Faculty, staff, and students can download WS_FTP LE, a free FTP client.

General FTP instructions to log in:

1. Start your Internet connection. If you're connecting from an SMC computer the connection is always on; if you're connecting from home you'll need to start your Internet service via dialup modem.
2. Launch your FTP program.
3. Use the following login information:
4. FTP host: homepage.smc.edu
5. Username: SMC\LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME (your email address without the "@smc.edu" part)
6. Password: Your Password
7. Don't attempt to write into or delete any folders with an underscore in their name (e.g., _vti_cnf) -- these are used by the homepage web server.
