NOT BEING TRADITION BUT IN TRADITION

Most countries in the world have their own traditions, but those traditions may not work longer in different cases. In some countries, especially in developing countries, like Ethiopia, we have different kinds of traditional customs. Some of them are funeral ceremony, spending money for funeral ceremony, and spending money to build grave house. Most people also waste their time by attending funeral ceremonies, and if somebody does not participate in some traditional customs, he might be ostracized or criticized by the community leader. So, it affects his social life.

My uncle is one of the people who doesn't go to or participate in funerals and some community ceremonies, but for him, he has his own reason, which is that, he is a kind of busy. He works six days a week. He also has responsibility to support his parents. In Ethiopia, wedding and funeral ceremonies have big values, and some people evaluate their friends during those time. For example, if their friends don't attend in wedding ceremonies or funeral ceremonies; the hosts consider that their friends do not value their relationship. My uncle is one of the people that used to face these kinds of social life problems.

My own experience is like my uncle’s; I grow up with him since I was five years old. So we have many things in commonCut. Sometime I feel as though I am looking my self in the mirror. I knew one Ethiopian saying "the way you act is the way you grow up". Some time I do like my uncle used to do. Basically, I don't want to do intentionally, I do sometime accidentally, but I have my own reason not to go to the ceremonies. Since I graduated from high school and started living by myself, I have been working hard because of this, I do not like to attend to the ceremonies, but I do go to the ceremonies. Most ceremonies take long hours. So, when I go to there, some time I feel as I am wasting my time.

In addition,Cut when I was in Ethiopia, I had problems with different neighborhood ideas, and I used to believe, instead of spending money for building a good grave house, helping some poor people in the community had more value. For example, some people in Ethiopia spend money up to 40,000" birr" to build one grave house. This much moneyPunctuation  can feed many homeless people. And also, funeral ceremony is the second way of wasting money and time.Cut Most people in our country, they pay too much money for their relative or family funeral ceremony, but they do not help them when they were sick or when they were in life, why? I do not know. For me, once, one person is dies, it is not relevant wasting many hours for funeral ceremony and too much money to build a big and shiny grave house, but eventually, I decided to join to the community members, it takes time for other people to change. Especially, to change the people's mind to not to do unnecessary traditional customs, and I go to my friends' ceremonies and I have a good relationship with my fellow Ethiopians in America too.

As I mentioned at the beginning about Ethiopian traditional customs, and for most people, it is unthinkable to stop doing these old traditions, but some new generation people knew that,Cut the tradition need to change. However, whatCapitalization is better and preferred to work with the community and try to persuade people of my idea. If I do not participate in it, it will affect my social life.
