Mary Lynne Stephanou was raised in Southern California and completed Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from UCLA.   As a staff research associate in the Department of Anatomy , UCLA Medical School, she developed instructional media for medical students and did research in neuromuscular physiology. During that time she also taught and developed courses in Exercise Physiology and fitness for UCLA Extension, including the Fitness Instructor Certification Program. She has been a full-time faculty member at SMC since 1985.
