English 80 is an Individualized Reading Lab class. The class starts with assessment of reading skills and assignment of an individual instructional plan. Much of each student's time will be spent working individually on this plan. The class also includes small group work on reading skills.

 

GOALS

To improve vocabulary, reading comprehension, speed and enjoyment for casual and academic material.

  

BOOKS

After testing, students will be assigned books which can be purchased at the book store. Every student should get a good, portable dictionary (I recommend the American Heritage Dictionary or the Longman Dictionary,  available in the book store). Additional books may be added on a individual basis.

 

CREDIT

This class is not graded; it is credit, no credit. This class is worth two units, which are non-transferable.
