SMC Student Resources

Chemistry and Science Tutoring

• Santa Monica College offers free tutoring services to all enrolled SMC students.  These services are designed to improve student success and include both individual and small group tutoring sessions with knowledgeable and experienced tutors.

• Click here for a list of all Tutoring Centers on campus.  Of particular note (for chemistry students) is the Science Learning Resource Center which offers tutoring in chemistry (Chem 9, 10, 11, 12, 21, 22, 24 material) and other sciences.  For more information, see Saundra Willis in Science 245, or call (310)434-4630. 

SMC Library

• The Santa Monica College Library is committed to providing quality service and an excellent collection of materials to support the goals, educational, and research needs of students.

SMC Email & Campus Computers

• All registered Santa Monica College students may obtain free email service through the college. You may sign up here for an SMC Email Account.

• When you obtain your SMC account, you will be assigned a username, password and an email address. Please write these down in a safe place. You will be able to access your SMC email from any computer that is connected to the internet, whether on or off campus.  Additionally, your username and password will allow you to use any available student computer on campus.

Counseling Services

• Simply stated, the mission of the SMC Counseling department is your success! Whether you want to transfer from SMC to a university, earn an Associates degree or career certificate from SMC, or take courses for your own development, SMC counselors are there to help you map out a plan to reach your goals. They are also available to help if your goals are unclear, if you are struggling with school, or if you’re finding that personal and/or school-related problems are getting in the way of your success and well-being.

Learning Disabilities Program

• The Santa Monica College Learning Disabilities Program is designed to provide support services to students with learning disabilities who are enrolled in regular college classes. They are dedicated to helping students with learning disabilities achieve their goals by identifying those eligible for special services according to state-mandated guidelines, and by assisting them in becoming independent, optimally functioning college students.
