Perviz Sawoski teaches Acting , Musical Theatre and Stage Movement for the Actor at Santa Monica  College . She has also taught at Long Beach Community College and California State University, Los Angeles.  Perviz is the Theatre Arts Department Chair.

Originally from India, Perviz is a teacher and performer trained in several Western and Asian theatrical and movement forms including Ballet, Jazz and Modern Dance, Karate (Black Belt), Opera and Bharata Natyam. Her Bharata Natyam studies, along with her training in Stanislavski’s “Method of Physical Actions” and her explorations into Michael Chekhov’s “Psychological Gesture,” Brechtian “Gestus,” and Samuel Beckett have led her to create a physicalized approach to acting.  This approach is also influenced by the Sanskrit “Abhinaya” model of codifying and artistically interpreting emotional states.

Perviz has directed and choreographed several plays and musicals at Santa Monica College and elsewhere. They include, “The Threepenny Opera,” “Prelude to A Kiss,”  “Beckett: 3 Plays,” “The Royal Hunt of The Sun,” “Bohemian Lights,” “Witness for the Prosecution,” “Forever Plaid” and "Rags". Her 1996 Santa Monica College production of “Once On This Island” went on to become a national winner at the Kennedy Center/ American College Theater Festival in Washington D.C.
