Beginning Weight Training Syllabus

CLASS MEETINGS: Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:15 am to 12:35. (Class will begin at 11:20 and end by 12:25*. This is done to give the students time to change before and after class.)

SITE: Gym 2 Weight Room

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This class is beginning level weight training class. Basics of weight training, strength and conditioning and weight room safety and etiquette will be covered. Students will also learn basic anatomy and core strengthening.

GRADING: Grading is based on attendance and participation. Grading will be as follows:

A = 0 to 3 absences B = 4 to 6 absences C = 7 to 9 absences

D = 10 to 12 absences F = 13 or more absences

Absences for studying, parking problems, etc. will not be excused! Absences for illness must be document by your doctor or the SMC health office. ONE MEDICAL ABSENCE WILL BE EXCUSED IF DOCUMENTED! This does not affect your grade.

*Tardiness will affect your grade. Students who arrive after 11:15 and before 11:25 will be marked tardy. TWO TARDIES COUNT AS ONE ABSENCE. Students who arrive after 11:25 are not allowed to participate and will be marked absent.

DRESS: To be considered present in class, students must wear athletic attire. This means shorts, sweats, t-shirts, etc. and athletic shoes. Shirts must be worn! People who sweat heavily are asked to wipe equipment off after they have used it.
