How Academic Dishonesty Can Ruin Your Life
Although plagiarism can take many forms, the most egregious (and, sadly, most common) form is the purchase of papers. There are many resources for students who want to buy papers:
Evil
House of Cheat --Get essays on all subjects. No
charge except to your conscience,
and a big black mark on your
permanent academic record when you get caught.
Planet Papers--More free plagiarism, another opportunity for you to meet the college disciplinarian!
termpapers-on-file.com --Plagiarism for a price: it will cost you in more ways than one. . .
ezwrite.com --See above.
geniuspapers.com --If you were a genius, you' d write it yourself.
Schoolsucks.com--And so do you if you do this!
There are many sites like those above. I've only listed a few, but I have many more on file. Likewise, there are many sources that I can use to scan your paper to see if it matches anything in their databases. (Yes, I use a company that has hacked into their databases). I regularly run the papers I receive through various programs looking for matches, so it will most likely do you much more harm than good to plagiarize in my class.
Plagiarism is the theft of another’s words or ideas.
Plagiarism is cheating.
Plagiarism is not and will not be tolerated in this class, at SMC, at the university you transfer to, or in life itself.
Plagiarism is a serious academic crime that will definitely mar your record, should mar your conscience, and will most assuredly mar your GPA. If you plagiarize an assignment you will fail my course. In the SMC catalog, plagiarism is discussed in the Code of Academic Conduct (page 181). Plagiarism, however, is not limited to the information listed in that document. Incorrect or missing source citations, falsifying sources, downloading papers from the internet, or having another student write your paper are all considered plagiarism.
Students suspected of plagiarism will be referred to the college disciplinarian.
Students found guilty of plagiarism will receive a failing grade in my class and may be suspended or expelled from SMC.
