Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. WB Yeats Teaching is my passion! Over the last 30+ years I have administered and taught
in early childhood education. I hold a Master's degree in Education for Young Children. My bachelor's
degree and undergraduate studies were also in Child Development. When I was a student at Santa Monica
College I built my educational foundation in early childhood education, having received my Preschool
Teaching Certificate from them in 1975. In addition, I am an avid supporter of the National Association
for the Education of Young Children. And moreover, I have been both an active member and workshop
presenter for this organization on the local and state levels during my entire career.
The focus of my calling has been on the development, implementation and integration
of a quality pre-school experience for children of all socio-economic and culturally diverse backgrounds.
For many years I was the director of a state funded child care center that served homeless and low income
families. Prior to that, I taught in infant-toddler centers and preschools. In addition, I have taken care
of children and taught in Mexico, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, France and Egypt. One of my talents is "story
telling" and many students still remember me through my stories.
Finally, for the last 10 years I have taught adults, and high school students in
child care occupations. I am excited by the prospect of inspiring adults to be their "best" for young children.
Working with kids is one of the most important jobs on the planet! This cyber classroom is designed to help
facilitate our BEST work with kids.
Enjoy!
