valleys of the Nile, Tigris, and Euphrates through the
Reformation. This course will acquaint students with the cultures
of the Near East, Greece, and Rome; the medieval period; the
Renaissance; and the Reformation.

A survey of South Asian civilizations from the Indus Valley
civilization through the Mughal Empire, this course will
highlight the major events and themes in the development of
South Asian civilization, offering an overview of the various
social, intellectual, cultural, political, and economic patterns
in the region that encompasses present-day India, Pakistan,
Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
