This course covers the development of Western civilization from its beginning in the valleys of the Nile, Tigris, and Euphrates through the Reformation. This course will acquaint students with the cultures of the Near East, Greece, and Rome; the medieval period; the Renaissance; and the Reformation.


History 26: South Asian Civilizations (Ancient Period)

A survey of South Asian civilizations from the Indus Valley civilization through the Mughal Empire, this course will highlight the major events and themes in the development of South Asian civilization, offering an overview of the various social, intellectual, cultural, political, and economic patterns in the region that encompasses present-day India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.


History 29: Survey of The Jews in History

A survey of the Jewish people and history from biblical times to the present. Focus is on the development of major institutions, ideas, religions and cultural movements, as well as the interaction between Jews and those amongst whom they have lived.
