I am a proud graduate of Santa Monica College. I attended SMC from Fall 1994 to Winter 1996 as an international student from Indonesia, earning a General Science A.A. degree and subsequently transferred to UCLA to obtain my B.S. in Biochemistry. I then went to University of Washington in Seattle to get my Ph.D. in Structural Biology/Biophysics/Biochemistry with David Baker. I did a short postdoctoral training in organic chemistry at UC San Francisco and then continued with another three years of postdoctoral work at UCLA with Jim Bowie. My research work centered around design of protein structures and protein X-ray crystallography.

I started as a full time faculty at SMC in the Fall 2008 and is one of the regular faculty members in Chem 11 and Chem 12, the general chemistry series. I have also been the faculty advisor for the SMC Pre-Health Professionals Association (PHA), a student organization dedicated to inform SMC students about medical, dental and pharmacy schools.

In my free time I play badminton and poker, travel, read and try out restaurants in the SoCal area.
