iCLICKER WORKSHOP
How to begin:
1. Copy MyCoursePC or MyCourseMac and rename for your course
a. E.g. Physics 14 Section 9999
2. Open the folder and double-click iClicker
3. Click on Settings and Preferences – look through all four tabs, entering the instructor control number and other appropriate information
4. Click on START – floating bar will appear to be used at any time.
5. You can ask questions in three different ways:
a. Pre-written questions
b. Spur of the moment questions typed in the question box (an option available from the floating bar). This is nice since a screen shot of the question is stored if you forget which answers align with which questions.
c. Spur of the moment questions written on the board
6. I like having the grid that shows which iClickers have responded show on the screen
7. All answers for each question, and the graph of class responses, is saved to the Session Data and Images folders, under the date of the session
Registering Your Class
1. Just have them use them to increase participation (pick up at the start of class and return at the end). Problem: iClickers will go on walkabout.
2. Have the iClickers numbered and just make sure your students always pick up and return the same number iClicker. Then you just have to, once, assign each student a number and iClicker. Problem: need to get the iClickers numbered and organized - though Chemistry already has.
3. Do a full class registration using a class roster, and loan them out for the full semester. Problem: when everyone starts using them, we'll run out of iClickers.
