Download Syllabus, Day-to-Day Schedule and "Best Unacceptable Excuses for Not Delivering a Speech"
Download and study Lessons 1 thru 6. Pay particular attention to Lesson # 6
Prepare list of three (3) possible topics for Speech # 1 For each possible topic, create a Specific Purpose Statement. We will discuss topics in class. List due on Feb 21

This is  important material. If there is anything you don't  understand, ask in class.   

You are required to bring a list a three (3) possible topics for your 1st speech. Bringing in only 1 or 2 will result in a lowering of your overall grade

Purchase Scantron Form 1712-PAR-L and bring it to class next meeting. 

Purchase a 3-ring binder in which you will keep all material relevant to this Speech 1 course (downloaded lessons, downloaded resource files, returned outlines, etc...)

Prepare Meta Speech #1, Due March 6
Your 1st speech, an informative speech,  focuses on the basics: topic choice, organization, outlining, use of speech notes, clear delivery, audience focus, adequate rehearsal, etc. 

In addition, this speech must include a minimum of 2 verbal citations of reference sources in the body of the speech.

Note: Unexcused absence on any speech day counts double -- even if you're not scheduled to speak

Please note: Santa Monica College requires attendance on the assigned final day -- June 5. You must attend this class meeting even if you have already completed Speech #3. Do not make any plans that will prevent your attendance on June 5.
