THE ROSE GARDEN

Craig had told me to be sure to try all the different fruits in Thailand, so Amy and I tried longan, rambutan and green rose apple at our buffet lunch. We liked the fruit at lunch, but never cared for any of them again the rest of the trip. After lunch, we had a little (VERY little) time to look around. We went to see the performance, which included a man balancing/juggling takraw balls (woven from rattan), a staged Thai kickboxing match and a sampling of dances from the various regions in Thailand. The show was a little "hokey", but still enjoyable. After the kickboxing show, Amy asked if we could go and see a real kickboxing match. I told her we'd try to go once we got back to Bangkok, but we never had time.

The building where we saw the show was VERY warm. There were fans in the building, but for some reason, they didn't turn any of the fans on. They did pass out cool cloths at the beginning, which was refreshing.

After leaving the show, we went outside to see the elephant show.

I was paying so much attention trying to take the shot right as the elephant stepped between the men, that I didn't even notice its "second trunk".

In honor of the upcoming Olympics, the elephant was performing on the "balance beam".

You can't tell without sound, but the elephants are "dancing" to music.

Now we know why the elephant was exposed the entire show...
(if you can't see, the elephant is urinating).
