Hybrid Classes

These courses are taught 50% online and 50% on -campus. It requires students to be
independent learners and strongly motivated.

Students who wish to "do" these classes fully online have that option.

An email is sent 2-3 days prior to the first meeting with instructions and class website.

Important   If you do not receive an email from me prior to course start date,
                   email me immediately at darwiche_jinan@smc.edu

If you are signed up in a hybrid class, or for more info see Online Classes below.

Online Classes

Online classes are conducted entirely over the internet through a website through http://www.smconline.org

To access the course’s website you must first register through SMC.

For online and hybrid classes I send an email 2-3 days before the classes start with further instructions.
So make sure you provide the school with an email that you check regularly.
Important If you do not receive an email from me prior to course start date, email me immediately.

Working From Home: If you are taking online courses only, then you may not use the school's computer labs.
If you will be using your home computer, you are responsible for securing your internet access as well as have the
software required installed on your home machine. Some books have the software packaged with no expiration date.
At the current time only students taking other non-online courses may use the computer labs.
Students taking a hybrid class may use the labs.

How online courses work : An online course has the same content as an on-campus course. You will be using
a website (as indicated above), to get the lectures, get assignments, submit assignments, and do the tests.
To further support online students, I also post PowerPoint presentations files with animation and voice added to
help students understand the material more. To view these slides you can download a free PPT viewer from
Microsoft's website if you do not have MS PowerPoint installed.
I also post sample solutions, and comment on each assignment for individual feedback.
The advantage of online courses is that students work at their own pace whenever they want.

Note : Assignments and Tests have due dates and must be submitted on time to get proper credit.
