The following sentences may be written differently than as presented below.
1. Many of our students speak Spanish, but the library has few Spanish language magazines.
2. There are hundreds of languages and thousands of dialects, but each year five languages become extinct.
3. Cigarettes have carried warning labels since the 1960s and the price of tobacco has skyrocketted, but millions still smoke.
4. The neighborhood has many stately homes and the streets are lined with tall trees, but the streets have many potholes.
5. India produces more movies than any other country in the world, but few play outside of India; most of the movies are low budget.
6. Three students were killed in a drunk driving accident, and the manager of the Student Union bar was fired.
7. Many people admire outlaws and some are seen as heroes; Jesse James is a hero to many people in Ireland.
8. The professor stated that papers could be typed or handwritten.
9. Benny wanted to work out. He could use the campus gym or could join a health club downtown.
10. Presidents cannot control events such as natural disasters or revolutions that take place overseas.
