Revising Run-Ons and Comma Splices with Subordination

The sentences may be corrected in other ways.

1. Everyone recognizes the importance Henry Ford played in the development of the American auto industry while William Durant's role has been overlooked.

2. Although William Durant started with little, he became the founder of General Motors.

3. When he bought the Buick company in 1904, it was failing.

4. Because Durant worked hard, in 1908 Buick produced more cars than Ford.

5. After he founded General Motors in 1908, he became a major industrialist.

6. Durant recognized talent because he brought Walter Chrysler and Louis Chevrolet into GM.

7. While Durant could create, he could not manage.

8. Since General Motors expanded too rapidly, it went nearly bankrupt.

9. After a cash crisis forced Durant to resign, General Motors lost its founder.

10. The GM headquarters had been called the Durant Building although the name was changed after his fall.
